Antioxidants for Lubricants
Oxidation is one of the main factors in lubricant degradation, reducing performance, service life and the level of protection provided to the equipments. To meet this challenge, Lumar offers a wide range of highly effective antioxidants (such as phenolic and amine types) designed to stabilize automotive oils and industrial fluids in the most demanding environments.
Description
Antioxidants work by interrupting the chain reactions responsible for oxidation. Primary antioxidants, often referred to as free-radical scavengers, neutralize peroxide radicals that trigger these destructive reactions. Secondary antioxidants, on the other hand, break down the hydroperoxides formed during oxidation before they generate reactive by-products.
The synergistic combination of primary and secondary antioxidants provides enhanced, long-lasting protection perfectly suited to the constraints of modern applications. Lumar also offers multifunctional antioxidants suitable of combining several protection mechanisms within a single compound, as well as specific radical scavengers adapted to oxygen-poor environments.
Thanks to this broad portfolio of solutions, Lumar supports formulators in developing lubricants that are more stable, longer-lasting and better protected against the effects of time and temperature.
Among the most common antioxidants, we offer:
- BHT
- Di-butyl diphenylamine
- Di-octyl diphenylamine
