Poly Alpha Olefins (PAO)
Poly alpha olefins (commonly known as PAOs) are synthetic base oils obtained through the polymerization of an alpha-olefin (generally 1-decene or 1-dodecene).
Description
Compared with conventional mineral oils, PAOs offer outstanding oxidation stability, low volatility, a very low pour point and excellent behavior at extreme temperatures. Their high viscosity index ensures consistent performance even in the most demanding environments.
Lumar offers low-molecular-weight PAOs (PAO2, PAO4, PAO6, PAO8, PAO10) as well as higher-molecular-weight grades (PAO40, PAO100, mPAO65). They are used in high-performance formulations for automotive oils, industrial lubricants, greases and specialty fluids.
